CHEMICAL PEEL

Chemoexfoliation, or chemical peeling, is a procedure used to improve specific cutaneous conditions through the controlled stratum corneum removal.
The aim of this procedure is altering the appearance of the skin through the regeneration of new epidermis.

Chemoexfoliation, compared to physical or mechanical exfoliation, has evident advantages such as:

  • Major efficacy
  • Major efficiency
  • Easier execution of procedure
  • Versatility: use of organic acids of various natures for the treatment of different cutaneous problems.
  • Independence of the technical skill of the doctor: contrary to mechanical or physical peelings (such as laser, micro and dermobrasion) chemoexfoliation does not depend totally on the technical expertise of whom executes the procedure.
  • Possibility of the integration of auxiliary substances: “medicated” chemical peelings contain active ingredients that are able to synergise the activity of different acids.

Chemical peels can be used to treat a variety of conditions such as rosacea, hyper-pigmentation, hyper keratosis, acne, aging skin or just for a refresh of dull, lifeless skin. We also offer special occasion peels to help you look your very best for your special event.

For treatment of a specific condition you may require a series of treatments.

HOW LONG UNTIL I SEE A RESULT?

The peel you select will determine how long until you see a result. In most cases you will begin to see a result 3-5 days post procedure. The final result may not be seen until you complete your series of peels.

HOW MUCH WILL IT COST ME?

Excluding special occasion peels, you will be required to follow a strict skincare regime to optimise your skin for the treatment. This skincare will be need to be purchased prior to beginning your treatments. It is also available as a package deal with your first peel, please speak to the staff at AH Cosmetic Clinic for more information about your specific treatment.

HOW LONG WILL THE TREATMENT TAKE & WHAT IS THE DOWNTIME?

You will require a consultation with Dr Ali Hussain to assess your suitability before your treatment, the value of the consultation will be deducted from your final total on the day. In total, you should reserve approximately forty-five minutes. You can return to your daily activities immediately after the procedure, however, you must avoid hot showers, exercise and excessive sunlight for a period of 24 hours post treatment. You may experience some redness and minor swelling post procedure.

WHAT ARE THE SIDE EFFECTS?

As with any treatment there is a small risk of short-term redness, tenderness or minor swelling, stinging or burning and peeling. Rare risks include permanent darkening or lightening of the skin, scarring or infection.
